SEANET Blog
The Seabird Ecological Assessment Network (SEANET) is an ongoing project assessing seabird mortality along the eastern seaboard of the United States. Over 100 citizen scientists volunteer to walk an assigned stretch of beach once or twice a month, record environmental data and report both dead and live birds seen on the beach.

This group is on the front lines of the effort to document and protect the shorelines of the eastern seaboard. Also, where else can you read the wildly popular "Field Guide to Severed Wings"?

VSA Arts
This nonprofit creates an enormous range of arts programs for children and adults with disabilities. These are people who may never have been offered the opportunity to make art of any kind in their lives - because no one thought they needed it. For many people with disabilites, the chance to paint/write poetry/dance/draw becomes one of the most liberating and empowering acts of their lives, and opens a floodgate of astonishing creativity and talent - because they were never allowed to before.
NB: For those of you that have drawn all your lives, and/or make pictures for a living, stop and think about that.
